University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University

The University Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University is one of Europe's largest public health clinics. It is named after a district in the south-west of Munich, where it is located. The gynecology, obstetric and pediatric hospital is in the heart of Munich. The clinic has a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities.

Department of Neurology

Professor DM Dietrich Marianne is a head of the department.

 The Department of Neurology specializes in treatment and rehabilitation of various forms of neurological diseases. Annually more than 10,000 patients are examined here. In particular: craniocerebral trauma, spinal cord injuries, stroke and brain infarction, brain haemorrhage, subarachnoid brain hemorrhage, neuromuscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, treatment and rehabilitation after surgery to remove brain tumors.

 

Department of Cardiology

 Annually, highly skilled specialists of the department of cardiology carry out up to 3,600 surgical interventions under the direction of the Director, Professor DM Bruno Reirhard, who is one of the leaders for heart failure treatment in Germany.

Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

                         

The main task of the department of gynecology and obstetrics is the health of patients, a well as individual approach to every woman. Complex examinations, conservative and surgical treatment of the whole spectrum of gynecological and breast diseases are carried out under the direction of Prof. D.M. Friese. Thanks to the efforts of the hospital staff, 1,400 healthy babies come into the world every year.

 

Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology

The specialists of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology find the most effective methods of treatment of each disease, using modern laboratory and instrumental diagnostics, drugs and developing a special diet and day regimen.

The department specializes in the following fields:

  • Liver disease, especially the diagnosis and treatment of chronic forms of hepatitis B&C

  • Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (Morbus Crohn & Colitis ulcerosa), especially severe forms of these diseases
